"Tension and Relaxation" (Duration: 10 minutes)
In a day's work the tension starts the moment you get in front of the mirror to dress up. You look at yourself. You are not happy with your appearance. You think you are balding or if your nose had been a bit long or twisted to the right or left you might look better. If the fingers werea bit more delicate, it would have certainly looked more elegant and so on.
Please remember that this body was given to you without your asking. You were not consulted in its manufacture. Literally, you were thrust into it. It was not your choice. So learn to love it. Learn to live with it.
Without the body you are no body. Without the body you lack mobility.
Keep it groomed, feed it well, clothe it and keep it healthy. Walk with pride. Be proud to show it around to everyone. Whenever you go out in the open, keep your head high, pull the chin in, keep your shoulders level and walk erect. Inhale a lung full of fresh air. Be happy that you are alive this very moment. Just relax.
When you dress up to go to work or to a party or just to call on a friend, wear the clothes that you like most. Don't worry whether Jack and Jill will like it or Mary and Maicy will make faces at you. It is none of their business. Dressing up is very much your business.
A SAMPLE SPEECH.
In fact no one has any time to think about you and much less to worry about you. In fact you are the only one worrying about yourself. The world is so selfish that everyone is worried about himself. Dress up to your taste and liking. Feel confident. Your self-esteem goes up. Don't be tense.
If you want to be the prettiest girl or the handsomest guy in the whole world, just spend five minutes in front of a mirror, 10 minutes with yourself and 15 minutes with Mother Nature, who is your real mother. Just go out into the garden everyday and spend 15 minutes.
If you do not have a garden of your own, just go to the local park on weekends and spend an hour and fifteen minutes. That equals 15 minutes on five working days. Do not take a companion with you to discuss politics or business. Go alone.
Do not walk fast. You are not on a fitness program. Walk slowly. Look at the grass, look at the plants, look at the trees, look at the clouds and look at the sky. Oh God! What a beautiful world.
We have all learnt in our basic science that the leaves are the factories producing food for the plant. Then Mother Nature could have given leaves of identical shape and size, to all the plants, all over the world. She didn't do it. She has made leaves with different shapes and sizes. She knows that variety is the spice of life.
Look at this variety. She has given this for you to enjoy. When you are in the park, observe the park, look at the plants and see the leaves and flowers. Admire the plants. Touch them. Talk to them. Tell them you love them and that they are very pretty.
Look at the flock of birds, beautiful butterflies, honeybees, colorful beetles and bugs, snails and earthworm. You are not alone on this planet. You have a host of wonderful companions living and sharing this planet with you. Learn to relax in their company.
Once you have decided to call it a day and go to bed, do not switch on the light and start reading a book or curl up in bed and go to sleep. Instead, do the "Savasana" exercise for a few minutes. What is Savasana? Yoga describes the posture of a dead body as Savasana. Lie down straight and stretch your arms and legs. Relax all the muscles. Close your eyes. Breathe normally.
Now you recollect the day's events, in a quick succession, analyzing each one of them. Did you manage time? Did you achieve your objectives? Were you proceeding towards your vision? But do not waste even a single minute in pondering over your regrets. Don't worry about, "If I had not said that, he would have, "or "If I had not done that, it would have been," and so on. Learn your lessons from your mistakes and shut the door tight on your past. You cannot retrieve anything from your past.
Now shift your thoughts to tomorrow. Set out the tasks for the day. Fix up the time slots. List out your dos and don'ts. This whole exercise will not take more than two minutes. Repeat this exercise every-night.
Now, switch on the light and read a book of your choice or enjoy yourself being in a cozy bed. You need not go to sleep. The sleep will come to you.
After a good night's rest wake up to another magnificent day in this beautiful world.
Now, you know the best medicine for your tension is relaxation. The word relax has the letters L A X. Hence, it will always act as a laxative for your tension. Good Luck.
